OKLAHOMA CITY— Earlier right now, a federal grand jury indictment was unsealed within the Western District of Oklahoma charging two males with two-counts of committing hate crimes, introduced Assistant Legal professional Normal Kristen Clarke of the Justice Division’s Civil Rights Division and United States Legal professional Robert Troester for the Western District of Oklahoma.
The indictment alleges that on June 22, 2019, Brandon Killian and Devan Johnson, aiding and abetting one another, willfully brought on bodily damage to 2 victims due to the perceived or precise race of one of many victims, who’s a Black man. The victims are recognized within the indictment solely as J.C. and M.W. The assaults occurred within the car parking zone of the Brickhouse Saloon, in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
If convicted, Killian and Johnson every face a most sentence of 10 years in jail, three years of supervised launch and a nice of as much as $250,000.
The case is being investigated by the Oklahoma Metropolis FBI Area Workplace. Assistant U.S. Legal professional Julia Barry of the Western District of Oklahoma and Trial Legal professional Avner Shapiro of the Civil Rights Division are prosecuting the case.
