Summary
This report is the thirty second in an annual sequence primarily based on knowledge from BJS’s Federal Justice Statistics Program, which started in 1979. It gives nationwide statistics on the federal response to crime for fiscal years 2017 and 2018. The report describes case-processing within the federal criminal-justice system, together with investigations by U.S. attorneys, prosecutions and declinations, convictions and acquittals, sentencing, pre-trial launch, detention, appeals, probation and parole, and prisons.
